UMKC Students

Please consult your ETC and the Curriculum Council’s guidelines on electives prior to any final decisions. All electives in this database have been classified to assist you in your scheduling. Information on away electives is provided for you to aid you in your search and to give you the appropriate curriculum course number and category to which the experience is assigned. Updates are made regularly but the host institution will have the most up-to-date information on this experience.

To apply to an existing UMKC elective, please contact your ETC.
To schedule a new elective for any location (one that does not exist in the database), you will need to complete the New Elective Course Description. All electives must first be reviewed and approved by the Council on Curriculum. Please see your ETC for more information.

If you are planning on doing a private practice, out-of-town or international elective, you will need to contact your ETC regarding enrollment, and fill out the Away Elective Info in Oasis.

Attention - New visiting institution standards may require that you secure your own medical liability insurance to rotate with their programs. Please ensure that you confirm whether or not you need to purchase additional medical liability insurance for every out of town elective you select. Cost will vary by institution and duration of rotation.

If you have not previously used VSAS and need authorization, please contact Petra Bricker at

To have paperwork completed for away electives, please see Cherie Burton on Red 3.
